The site presented several challenges, including limited access for machinery and the presence of a nearby water main.

Traditional retaining solutions proposed during the tender process would have increased costs and introduced additional construction risks.

Rather than relying on a conventional retaining wall, our team developed an alternative solution using locally sourced basalt rock.

This approach allowed us to widen the pathway while avoiding unnecessary drilling near critical infrastructure. Additional work included decking, seating, stairs, handrails, landscape lighting, planting, and natural pebble pathways.

The completed project delivered a safer, wider, and more attractive walkway that better serves the Kensington Park community.

The natural basalt retaining integrates seamlessly with the surrounding environment while providing a durable and cost-effective solution that will continue to perform for years to come.
